We’re On A Mission
We will build and maintain an alliance that will promote academic excellence among our school administrators, teachers, parents and students. CONTACT US: 678-479-4990 WE CAN USE YOU!
MAKING EVERY MINUTE COUNT Back to School Prayer Rally This annual event is held in August. We kick off with an evening filled with praise, worship and a presentation from a dynamic motivational speaker. The program is then complimented with workshops, health fair, concert, and the spoken word. This year we’re growing as we add a carnival and a parade to the second day festivities. And then a third day with panel discussions with participation from our local officials. See you there! CRCT Testing Skills Review At a minimal cost, teachers come together to prepare students and parents for the all important CRCT. It all begins with an orientation for the parents informing them of what to expect and what is expected. Parents even receive tips on how they can help prepare their child at home. We continue with an approximately 11 weeks of teaching, sample testing and review. Be a responsible parent—be prepared. Summer Enrichment Programs To bridge academic skills during the summer vacation, we sponsor a Reading Program and Bible Contest Activities. In addition to these two constants, we plan to add a Spelling Bee. Mid-Year Academic Challenge For two years we hosted a community wide Math Competition. Now we are endeavoring to offer an Academic Challenge with math, history and science listed among the categories. Look for it soon. Teachers' Luncheon To recognize the commitment of teachers and to encourage them towards continued academic excellence, the Education Council sponsors Appreciation Luncheons at selected Clayton and Henry County schools. Your school could be next. We must continue to uplift and support our teachers at every opportunity. Encourage a teacher today. Awards Day Celebration A Honor Roll, B Honor Roll and major academic accomplishments—we want to celebrate them. Each semester New Birth South Metropolitan Church students are recognized for their outstanding performance. A family member, teacher or friend may even nominate well-deserving students for a special monetary prize. Special nominations are submitted in the form of a letter and must include grade verification. The nomination letters are reviewed and scored. The highest score in each grade level (elementary, middle and high school) wins the monetary award but EVERYONE receives a prize. Tutorial Services To promote the academic success of our children, a new tutorial service made its debut in April 2003. Check out the Higher Learning Academy Brochure for more details. Additional certified tutors are desired. |
